Web Site Design

We provide a wide variety of different website solutions for our clients.

Overview

The most critical factor for the success of a web site is how it was designed!

Regardless whether a site is designed professionally or with the use of a design framework or commercial software package - not understanding the differences between various design technologies & approaches leads to significant time, effort & money losses.

Unfortunately, most budget web designers and software packages can't even support or handle all these approaches, and many individuals eventually evolve their web presence from one design to another.

The good news is that we really understand professional web site design and how to create a site which meets your needs now and for the future.

Responsive Web Sites (mobile friendly sites)

Responsive web design involves creating a website that can automatically and dynamically adapt itself to different screen sizes and layout arrangements to best suit the device being used to view it..

This design approach is the hottest new thing in the past few years and allows the same website to be viewed on mobile phones, tablets, laptop and desktop computers. We can use this approach to create informational, transactional or e-commerce websites.

We've already evaluated and have experience using several different responsive web design frameworks, including Twitter Bootstrap 3, Foundation 5, 320 and Up and Simple Grid. Although our primary choice is Bootstrap, we'll use the framework which works best for your specific requirements.

Informational Web Sites (personal/blog web sites)

Informational web sites are used to present information about a web site owner, a business, available products and services as well as, references to traditional 'bricks & mortar' stores.

The information in these web sites can be static (non-changing), manually updated, or dynamically updated from a database. The graphic at the right shows the major components of an Informational web site.

This web site design is often chosen for a personal or family web site, community service or small organization or business; and this design is often chosen because it can be developed quickly with minimal cost.

We have over 50 Web Site Templates for you to choose from if you're not sure what you want.

However, informational web sites also offer the least amount of services and therefore it can be difficult to keep the interest of your visitors and/or entice them to return.

Transactional Web Sites (business/admin web sites)

Transactional web sites are used to provide visitors with the ability to submit and receive information, feedback and other correspondence directly via your web site.

This information can be in the form of static text files, registration forms, or customer feedback surveys. In most cases a dynamic database will be required to take advantage of these advanced business services. The graphic at the right shows the major components of a transactional web site.

Transactional web sites can be used to provide enterprise administration, invoicing, accounting, inventory and reporting facilities for business staff located throughout the world.

Transactional web sites cost more than informational web sites, however they also offer a number of interesting and interactive business services that attract more visitors, keep them on your site longer, and cause them to return at a later date.

E-commerce Web Sites (online shopping stores)

E-commerce web sites are required to securely process customer orders, sales and payments through the Internet.

It is estimated that every retail business will soon have an Internet presence of some type or another on the web. An e-commerce web site allows new and existing businesses to attract a world-wide market (and the United States has 10 times the population of consumers than Canada).

The graphic at the right shows the major components of an e-commerce web site.

However, since e-commerce web sites are accessible to many people (including hackers), additional security components must also be implemented in order to safely protect and process customers orders online.

Therefore, e-commerce web sites are the most expensive (and valuable) web site design to build and they require a complex set of support services and products.

Some of these advanced services include; secure site certificates, data encryption, order processing components, credit card authorization connections, as well as advanced web hosting services for database, e-mail and technical support.
